Even the best laid plans can come unravelled...

As they did.

After about a week and a half of taking care of Kai Jin more or less alone (although last week, Dad was around, he just really couldn't help), I finally gave in and told Mom that I couldn't do it. I'm 16 years old and she is just too much for me to handle, not being used to caring for a little kid all day. And then there's the detail that I'm not the best physically right now, because I've never had a chance to recover really from the bug I caught in China. It's been get-up-and-go ever since I stopped throwing up. There's been next to no downtime. And it's grating on me. I've had an almost-constant headache for about 5 days, and so I went to the Dr. today and told him-to use the technical term- that I feel very 'blah'. And yes, the chart does say that. So he ordered a full general health screening, which showed Kai Jin that having blood drawn does NOT require being held down and screaming, and we should have the results in a few days, see if any thing's off.

Anyway, to the point of this post. Kai Jin has her first day of preschool tomorrow. Summer session preschool, but preschool nonetheless. It's a K2 class, which she'll be in til Summer 2008, because of her birthday (Oct. 8...cut off in Arkansas is Sept. 15 or so). So...she should make friends and learn more English...and hopefully get better potty trained. And I won't be about to physically attach myself to the ceiling fan and be nearly making myself sick.

I had hoped I'd be able to care for her during the day on my own, but even for Mom, she's a lot more of a hand-full than we thought she'd be. So this is probably for the best.

To end: they can't have sippy cups in K2's. Anybody else think that's crazy? They can have water bottles, things of that style but no sippy cups. Huh? They're TWO. Whatever...
