Glaucoma check

Reese had her second glaucoma EUA (exam under anasthesia(sp?)) today. I don't know what the results are, but Mom is still at ACH with Reese. They gave her Versaid (sp?) ,a.k.a. goofy gas, last time, so they did it this time. Mom said when she came out from under anasthesia, she was screaming, crying, clawing, climbing her way up Mom, and then wanting down, not letting Mom hold her at all. She completely freaked. Mom had to go to ACH alone with Reese this morning because Dad had to work, and I have to be at work at 4 (and had a dr. appointment at 2, that I ended up canceling because I have a horrible cold or something), so no one was really available.

Anyway, the nurses called the anastheologist when Reese freaked, and he/she said it was a reaction to the goofy gas. They said Mom could either wait it out or they could give her something. Mom had pretty much determined that if Reese didn't get medicated, she would have to be, so she told them to give her something now. Mom had to hold her down (kicking, screaming, bawling) so they could put in an IV to push the medicine in. They gave her Ativan, which is an anti-anxiety medicine we're familiar with. It's also called Lorazepram, or something like that. They use it a lot in shows like House, E.R., that kind of thing.

When I talked to Mom, Reese had finally fallen asleep on her. Mom's tired, understandably. We had Reese do things like that back right after we got home with her. It was like night terrors, almost.

Has anyone else ever had their kids come out from under A like that?

I did as a kid. It was a horrible, horrible dream I was having under it. My mom worked in the O.R. and they had her in the recovery room hoping it would help as I was trashing about.
Hope she is doing well.

My daughter came out of anesthesia kicking, screaming, scratching me, and pulling my hair one time. It was awful. It has only happened once so we have been lucky...or rather I have been lucky...I was the one that ended up with scratches all over my face, neck and arms when she woke up so angry. She even tried to bite me. The last time she had anesthesia, she woke up so peaceful and calm. She is having laser today so I'm hoping for a peaceful wake up.

I'm sorry that Reese had such a rough wake up. Hopefully, it didn't last too long.

Please let us know what her eye pressure is when you find out.

Lana did the same thing with the goofy medication and a pressure test. Just totally wild like you described. Scared the wits out of me how she was acting, but we were not offered anything to calm her. I am sorry to hear that Reese's pressure is up. Lana sees the eye doctor this week, but I doubt she will let them check her pressure in the office.

Blessings to you as you have the eye drops again. We can relate to all of this with our Lana.
