Hospital Part 1

Future Dr. Pepper ad?

With Mom and Sissy Michelle (who's pregnant) in the post-op recovery waiting room

In bed snuggling with Daddy today (Thursday)

Dad is doing fine and is feeling better today. I will post details about yesterday and some pictures of Reese when I get home later. About to go see him.

UPDATE: 01.24.08 at 6:41 pm.

Okay. Yesterday. I got up just after 6 am (everyone else was up closer to 5:30 or earlier) to go with Dad and Mom to Dad's foot doctor appointment. It was the only time they could get him in before his surgery, so we went with it. Anyway, he had to be at the hospital at 8:45 for an 11 am surgery. We didn't even get into the holding area for surgery until probably closer to 12. And it was 1:45 before he was taken back to surgery. From what I understand, the first surgery of the day with the robot had taken FOREVER because the caterazation (sp?) unit was broken. One of the nurses from the previous surgery came out and told us it was taking longer than expected because they were having some trouble. No, it wasn't the doctor, no, it wasn't the staff, she told us. Which leaves the robot. After that surgery was done, the doctor told us the caterazation unit has messed up and the patient before had some "anatomy issues"- take that how you want.

Anyway, he went under about 2:20 or so, and they were done with him by 5. Doctor said it was as standard as could be and he lost very little blood.

Today, I went up there about 12:30, and Reese got up there about 4 or 4:30. Dad was doing fine for a while, but then he managed to do something, we think, and I'll spare him his dignity as to what, and caused himself pain. So they had to give him morphine. They can't release him until his body does what it has to do for him to eat solid foods, once again I'll leave him his dignity as to what, if you know, hey, good for you. But hopefully he can come home tomorrow. But like I said, he has to be eating solids by then. Right now, he's still on liquids- which he is sick of. 3 days straight of liquid diet or nothing will do that to you.

Anyway, pray that his body starts working right again so he can come home. Reese and I really miss him and I know he and Mom miss home. I'm on Reese duty with Grandma Debbie as assistance, so pray for me and my sanity as the stress from all this is hitting Reese and making her have periodic fits of being not-nice, and the stress is making my string of patience shorter by a long shot.

Thank-you for posting. I have kept him and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I'm glad the surgery went well and I hope he is able to return home soon.
